Role Overview

As Manager, Radiation Protection (Superintendent) with VST in Shippingport, Pennsylvania, you will direct all facets of the radiation protection program to protect workers, the public, and the environment. The position calls for strategic oversight of technical staff, continuous program improvement, and seamless alignment with plant-wide safety goals while remaining fully on site.

Responsibilities

• Steer the design, execution, and ongoing refinement of site radiation protection policies and procedures
• Supervise radiation protection technicians and specialists, setting clear expectations and performance standards
• Maintain ALARA practices by reviewing exposure data, work packages, and shielding effectiveness
• Assure full compliance with applicable federal, state, and industry radiation protection regulations
• Coordinate comprehensive radiological training, qualifications, and continuing education for station personnel
• Oversee routine and special radiological surveys, personnel dosimetry, and radioactive waste handling protocols
• Partner with operations, maintenance, and engineering groups to integrate radiation safety into daily work planning
• Lead investigations of radiological events and drive timely corrective actions and lessons learned

What You Bring

• Substantial hands-on experience managing radiation protection activities, ideally at superintendent or equivalent level
• In-depth working knowledge of radiation detection instrumentation, dose assessment methods, and regulatory frameworks
• Bachelor’s degree in health physics, nuclear engineering, radiation science, or a closely related discipline
• Demonstrated leadership, decision-making, and interpersonal skills suited to a high-reliability workplace
• Willingness and ability to work fully on site in Shippingport, Pennsylvania
• Professional certification such as Certified Health Physicist preferred but not required
