The Nuclear Operations Training Instructor - Licensed Operator Initial Training position at VST focuses on building expert-level knowledge and skills among trainees who aim for reactor operator or senior reactor operator qualifications. You will create, present, and refine programs that cover plant systems, procedures, safety practices, and operational decision-making so participants meet licensing expectations in a nuclear setting near Shippingport, Pennsylvania.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Develop and present classroom instruction on nuclear plant systems, technical bases, and operating procedures for initial licensed operator trainees
• Lead simulator scenarios that let trainees practice normal, abnormal, and emergency responses under realistic conditions
• Design and administer tests, checkouts, and performance evaluations that measure readiness for operator licensing
• Revise lesson plans, student guides, and evaluation tools when plant procedures or regulatory expectations change
• Coordinate with plant operations and training teams to keep materials accurate and relevant
• Track trainee progress and provide clear coaching that supports successful completion of Licensed Operator Initial Training
• Maintain your own instructor certifications and stay current with training quality standards

What We're Looking For

• Experience as a licensed reactor operator or senior reactor operator at a commercial nuclear facility
• Familiarity with delivering or supporting training for nuclear operations staff
• Solid command of plant systems knowledge, technical specifications, and operational practices
• Clear communication skills that help explain complex technical topics to adult learners
