PATH (People Assisting the Homeless) is hiring a Maintenance Specialist - PMV 1 to join our facilities team in Los Angeles County, California. This full-time position maintains and repairs residential and service properties that provide safe, dignified housing for people experiencing homelessness.
About the Role
As a Maintenance Specialist with PATH Enterprises, you'll manage the day-to-day upkeep of residential buildings and service facilities across our affordable housing communities. Your work ensures that residents and staff operate in clean, safe, functional spaces that meet building codes and safety standards. You'll combine skilled trades work—plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and HVAC maintenance—with proactive problem-solving and careful attention to detail. This role requires you to work respectfully in occupied units and shared areas, coordinate with residents and staff, and respond quickly to maintenance requests and safety concerns.
What You'll Do
- Execute plumbing repairs and installations, including fixtures, water systems, drains, heating units, and filtration equipment
- Perform electrical work, minor carpentry, flooring repairs, and interior finishing tasks like painting and masonry
- Operate power tools, hand tools, and shop equipment safely and effectively
- Install and repair locks, hinges, deadbolts, and other hardware
- Read blueprints and technical drawings to plan and estimate work scope and materials
- Implement preventative maintenance schedules and document all work completed
- Monitor maintenance request systems and prioritize safety-related issues for immediate response
- Inspect facilities for code compliance and safety hazards
- Respond to building emergencies (fires, earthquakes, utility issues) and assist with evacuation procedures
- Order, track, and manage maintenance supplies and equipment efficiently
- Drive to multiple sites to deliver materials and perform on-site maintenance work
What We're Looking For
- Five years of building maintenance, equipment repair, or facilities management experience
- Two years of hands-on plumbing and/or electrical maintenance work
- Proficiency with CMMS software, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), and Microsoft Teams
- Strong analytical skills, attention to quality, and ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Clear communication (verbal and written), problem-solving skills, and initiative
- Professional approach when working in occupied residential spaces
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingual English and Spanish language skills
- Active plumbing certification
Employment Requirements
- Valid employment authorization in the United States
- Valid driver's license and reliable personal transportation with proof of insurance and vehicle ownership
- Ability to qualify for PATH's vehicle insurance coverage
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Cleared background screening, tuberculosis test, and drug screening as a condition of hire
