Maintenance Mechanic with Security Clearance

Akima is hiring a Maintenance Mechanic with Security Clearance to join our team at Redstone Arsenal in Madison County, Alabama. In this full-time position, you'll maintain and repair the critical infrastructure that keeps military facilities operating safely and efficiently.

About the Role

As a Maintenance Mechanic, you'll perform hands-on work across multiple skilled trades to keep buildings, structures, equipment, and systems in top working condition. Your work directly supports the mission at Redstone Arsenal, one of the nation's largest military installations. This role requires a current or eligibility for a Department of Defense security clearance.

What You'll Do

• Perform carpentry work including repairs to interior and exterior walls, roofing, doors, windows, and structural components
• Handle plumbing repairs and maintenance on water systems, fixtures, and related equipment
• Apply painting and finishing work to maintain buildings and structures
• Execute mold remediation and environmental documentation procedures in accordance with safety and regulatory standards
• Inspect equipment and structures to identify needed repairs before they become major problems
• Maintain detailed records of all maintenance and repair work completed
• Work collaboratively with other trades and maintenance personnel on multi-disciplinary projects

What We're Looking For

• Current or eligibility for a Department of Defense Secret security clearance
• Demonstrated experience in building maintenance and facility repair work
• Proficiency in at least two skilled trades such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, or painting
• Ability to read blueprints, technical drawings, and maintenance specifications
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Reliable transportation and ability to work on-site at Redstone Arsenal
• Valid driver's license
