Role Overview
As a Senior General Maintenance professional at Katy Independent School District, you'll provide essential maintenance and repair services during evening hours across our campus facilities. Reporting to the Maintenance Area Supervisor, you'll oversee preventive maintenance, troubleshoot mechanical and structural issues, and ensure our buildings remain safe and functional for students and staff. Your expertise in multiple building trades will be vital to keeping Katy ISD facilities in top condition, with 261 annual duty days in a full-time, non-exempt position.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute preventive and corrective maintenance across HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and other building systems
- Perform inspections, diagnose equipment failures, and complete repairs safely and efficiently
- Read technical blueprints, construction drawings, and maintenance specifications to guide work
- Follow written and verbal instructions from supervisors and coordinate with maintenance team members
- Safely operate tools, equipment, and vehicles as required for daily maintenance tasks
- Document completed work and report issues requiring specialized contractor support
Skills & Qualifications
- Valid Texas Operator's License
- Minimum 3 years of general maintenance or building trades experience
- Proven ability to work across multiple building trades and mechanical systems
- Comfortable lifting and moving materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds regularly
- Proficiency reading and interpreting technical plans, blueprints, and written specifications
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to following both oral and written directions
- Ability to prioritize work and manage time independently during evening shifts
