Green Meadows Partners is recruiting for Zoo Knoxville, one of East Tennessee's most treasured nonprofit organizations. We seek a Vice President of Development to serve as the senior philanthropy leader for this beloved institution in Knoxville, Knox County. This is a full-time position.

About the Role

As Vice President of Development, you will lead all fundraising and philanthropic efforts for Zoo Knoxville, directing the organization's advancement strategy and major gifts operations. You'll serve as the chief development officer, reporting to senior leadership and working collaboratively across the institution to sustain and grow philanthropic support for conservation, education, and community engagement initiatives.

What You'll Do

  • Direct comprehensive fundraising strategy and all philanthropic operations
  • Lead major gifts and principal gifts programs with high-net-worth donors and foundations
  • Develop and execute capital campaigns and strategic advancement initiatives
  • Build and maintain relationships with key donors, prospects, and community partners
  • Oversee grant research, writing, and stewardship processes
  • Manage the development department budget and staff
  • Represent Zoo Knoxville at donor events, community gatherings, and cultivation activities
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to align philanthropic goals with organizational mission

What We're Looking For

  • Demonstrated success leading nonprofit development operations and fundraising teams
  • Expertise in major gifts solicitation and relationship management
  • Experience designing and executing capital or comprehensive campaigns
  • Strong grant management and institutional giving background
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strategic mindset with nonprofit financial acumen
  • Leadership presence and ability to inspire confidence among donors and staff
  • Commitment to Zoo Knoxville's conservation and education mission
