Civil Engineer, Design Team Lead – Mega Projects

Ramboll, a global engineering and design consultancy, is seeking an experienced Civil Engineer and Design Team Lead for a full-time, remote role based from London. This position offers the opportunity to lead technical delivery on complex, large-scale infrastructure projects whilst advancing engineering innovation and team excellence.

The Opportunity

As Design Team Lead, you'll be at the forefront of ambitious, multi-disciplinary infrastructure initiatives. This remote role provides strategic leadership across design phases, from concept through delivery, with responsibility for technical direction, quality assurance, and coordinating cross-functional teams. You'll engage with senior stakeholders, navigate challenging technical problems, and establish engineering standards that define outcomes on significant programmes across the region.

Your Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop engineering design teams through complex mega-project delivery phases
• Oversee technical strategy, design standards, and quality control across multiple concurrent initiatives
• Manage stakeholder relationships and communicate technical solutions to clients, partners, and internal leadership
• Ensure regulatory compliance, safety protocols, and adherence to industry best practices
• Identify opportunities for design optimisation, innovation, and continuous improvement
• Contribute to proposal development and growth of strategic client relationships

What You Bring

• Substantial experience in civil engineering, with a proven track record leading design teams on major projects
• Strong technical expertise in infrastructure design relevant to large-scale developments
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex programmes, balance competing priorities, and deliver to schedule and budget
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences
• Professional engineering qualification (CEng or equivalent) or equivalent professional standing
• Strategic mindset and commitment to driving quality, safety, and innovation within project teams
