About the Role

PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) contamination represents one of the most significant environmental challenges facing the United States and the world. CDM Smith seeks an International PFASs Forensics Subject Matter Expert to lead investigation, assessment, and remediation efforts on complex PFAS cases. You'll serve as a technical authority on PFAS fate and transport, source identification, and cleanup strategies for clients across multiple industries and regulatory environments.

What You'll Do

• Conduct forensic investigations to identify PFAS contamination sources and determine transport pathways in soil, groundwater, and surface water
• Interpret analytical data, assess exposure pathways, and evaluate risks to human health and ecological systems
• Design and oversee PFAS sampling strategies, quality assurance protocols, and analytical methods appropriate for specific contamination scenarios
• Develop science-based remediation and risk management strategies aligned with evolving EPA and state regulatory frameworks
• Provide expert technical guidance and litigation support on PFAS cases, including depositions and testimony when needed
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on large-scale assessments and international PFAS projects
• Stay current on PFAS science, emerging contaminants, and regulatory changes impacting remediation approaches

What We're Looking For

• Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in environmental science, chemistry, hydrogeology, or related field
• 10+ years of environmental investigation, remediation, or consulting experience with demonstrated expertise in PFAS contamination
• Expert-level knowledge of PFAS chemistry, environmental behavior, toxicology, and international regulatory standards
• Proven ability to manage complex environmental forensics projects and communicate technical findings to diverse audiences
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience interpreting environmental data and developing remediation solutions
• Professional registration (PE, PG) preferred; willingness to maintain or obtain relevant certifications
• Ability to travel internationally for project work and client engagement
