About the Role
As a lead caseworker, you'll bridge frontline service delivery and supervisory functions, ensuring consistent, compliant program delivery across income maintenance and energy assistance services. You'll maintain your own active caseload while developing junior staff, troubleshooting complex cases, and maintaining system accuracy within NC Fast.
What You'll Do
- Process applications and determine eligibility for income maintenance and energy assistance programs
- Perform quality assurance reviews on casework to maintain program compliance and documentation standards
- Train and mentor caseworkers on procedures, policies, and best practices in Economic Services
- Serve as primary reception contact, managing client intake and initial assessments
- Resolve complex cases and escalated issues from team members
- Navigate NC Fast case management system for client documentation, tracking, and reporting
- Maintain knowledge of current regulations governing income maintenance, LIHEAP, and related programs
- Contribute to departmental efficiency and accuracy initiatives
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience in income maintenance, benefits administration, or related social services casework
- Advanced proficiency with case management systems and willingness to master NC Fast
- Demonstrated ability to train, mentor, and provide constructive feedback
- Strong knowledge of federal and state income maintenance program rules and procedures
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities and maintain accuracy under pressure
- High school diploma or GED (relevant work experience may substitute for additional education)
