Advance Local is hiring a part-time High School Sports Clerk/Reporter in Springfield, Hampden County, to help capture the energy of local prep athletics for the communities we serve.

About the Role

As a High School Sports Clerk/Reporter based in Springfield, Hampden County, you'll be the evening anchor of our sports desk. This in-office, full-time role keeps you close to the action — fielding incoming scores, supporting live game-night coverage, and occasionally heading out to report on the teams and athletes that define our region.

Key Responsibilities

• Staff the sports desk during evening hours, receiving phone calls and emails from coaches and accurately entering game scores.
• Support real-time coverage of Friday night high school football.
• Attend games on occasion to report, photograph, and produce feature stories for the high school sports section.
• Help maintain timely, reliable results that local readers and families count on.

Qualifications

• Strong written communication skills and an eye for detail when logging scores and stats.
• Comfort working independently during evening shifts in a deadline-driven setting.
• Genuine interest in high school sports and the Springfield-area community.
• Availability to work on-site in Springfield, Hampden County, including Friday evenings.
• Basic photography ability is a plus for occasional on-location coverage.
