About the Role
As a Hopper Bottom driver with H & M TRUCKING INC, you'll run over-the-road (OTR) freight on a solo, W2 basis out of Washington, D.C. This is a no-touch operation — you won't be responsible for loading or unloading. Drivers can expect average weekly earnings of $1,300 to $1,700 at a rate of $0.63 per mile, covering roughly 2,500 to 3,000 miles each week. The expected schedule is approximately 28 days out before home time.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate a Hopper Bottom trailer safely on OTR routes as a solo company driver
- Cover an average of 2,500 to 3,000 miles per week
- Maintain compliance with DOT regulations and hours-of-service rules
- Conduct routine pre-trip and post-trip inspections on late-model equipment (2023 or newer)
- Communicate with dispatch to keep freight moving on schedule
Qualifications
- Valid CDL with the ability to drive solo over the road
- Tanker and Hazmat endorsements required — don't have them yet? You can obtain them within 90 days, and the company will help reimburse the cost and supply the study materials you need
- Willingness to stay out for an extended schedule of around 28 days at a time
- Commitment to safe, no-touch freight handling (no driver load or unload)
