Head of Controllership

Fleek is recruiting a Head of Controllership to join our London office. This full-time, in-person position involves building the accounting systems, controls, and operational cadence that enable a fast-scaling business serving the global secondhand fashion marketplace.

Role Overview

Since 2022, Fleek has diverted 9 million garments from landfills while constructing a digital marketplace connecting thousands of resellers and retailers across the UK, Europe, and North America. As Head of Controllership, you'll design how accounting operates as this growth accelerates. Instead of refining an established finance function, you'll construct the core systems, processes, and rhythms that a complex, multi-location business requires. Your charge is to establish financial discipline and the control structure that anchors the next phase of scaling.

Responsibilities

• Build accounting processes, controls, and monthly reporting cadences suited to a globally expanding business
• Review existing financial workflows and restructure those that don't meet operational needs
• Establish clean month-end close procedures, including clear ownership, timelines, and information flows across departments
• Improve data quality and consistency in inputs from teams throughout the organisation
• Bring lessons from mature, large-scale companies into a high-growth setting without introducing excess process

Who We're Looking For

• An accountant with formal professional credentials (CA, CCA, or CPA)
• Experience in large, sophisticated, established operating environments
• A demonstrated ability to design and implement financial systems and controls from inception
• Background working in dynamic, scaling organisations
• The ability to gain buy-in and drive change among stakeholders beyond the finance team
• Clear-eyed judgment about where structure adds value versus where flexibility matters more
• Optional: experience with geographically dispersed teams, cross-border accounting, a data-oriented perspective, or unbridled enthusiasm for building new finance capabilities inside a growing business
