Role Overview

The Assistant Food and Beverage Manager works closely with the departmental leadership team at Hyatt Hotels in Barton, South Canberra to keep food and beverage outlets running efficiently. In this part-time capacity you will help shape service quality, support team members and contribute to the smooth delivery of meals, beverages and related experiences for visitors to the capital.

What You'll Do

• Help direct day-to-day food and beverage activities so service remains consistent, timely and guest-focused.
• Guide and encourage staff through clear direction, coaching and on-the-spot problem solving.
• Track supplies, watch costs and keep stock records accurate for kitchens and bars.
• Maintain strict hygiene, workplace safety and presentation standards that meet regulatory expectations.
• Listen to guest comments and quickly resolve concerns to protect high levels of satisfaction.
• Assist with the organisation and delivery of functions, special meals and group dining occasions.
• Handle rostering support, basic reporting and routine administrative duties that keep the department organised.

Skills & Qualifications

• Proven background in food and beverage service, ideally including some team leadership within hotels or comparable venues.
• Clear ability to lead people, build team spirit and communicate expectations effectively.
• Strong interpersonal skills for handling guests, colleagues and suppliers with confidence and care.
• Solid understanding of food-safety practices, cost awareness and basic menu coordination.
• Flexibility to work a part-time pattern that can include evenings, weekends and public holidays.
• Genuine enthusiasm for creating memorable hospitality moments and upholding quality standards.
