Family Preservation Therapist

Guardian Light Family Services is looking for a dedicated Family Preservation Therapist to join our team in Norfolk, Madison County. In this full-time position, you'll deliver direct therapeutic support to families, helping them build stronger relationships and overcome challenges while keeping children safe in their own homes.

As a Family Preservation Therapist at Guardian Light Family Services, you'll be at the heart of our mission to strengthen families and support children in thriving within their communities. This is hands-on, meaningful work that directly impacts family stability and child welfare. You'll provide compassionate clinical support grounded in evidence-based practices, working closely with families facing crisis, transition, or systemic barriers to stability.

What You'll Do

• Conduct comprehensive family assessments to identify strengths, needs, and protective factors
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans focused on family preservation and reunification
• Provide individual, family, and group therapeutic services using trauma-informed approaches
• Connect families with community resources, financial assistance, housing support, and other services
• Monitor and document family progress, adjusting interventions as needed
• Collaborate with case managers, school personnel, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders
• Respond to family crises and provide crisis de-escalation and support
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation and comply with regulatory requirements

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or related field
• Current state licensure or certification in social work, counseling, or a related mental health field
• Demonstrated experience working therapeutically with families and children
• Knowledge of trauma-informed care, family systems theory, and evidence-based treatment models
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work with diverse, underserved populations with cultural sensitivity
• Reliable transportation and ability to conduct in-home and community-based sessions
