Metric Engineering is hiring for an Environmental Specialist position in Panama City, Bay County to join the Environmental Planning department. This is a full-time role for an experienced professional ready to drive environmental compliance and project delivery across Florida.
The Opportunity
Metric Engineering's Environmental Planning team is seeking a mid-level Environmental Specialist with 3 to 7 years of professional experience. You'll manage environmental assessments, regulatory compliance, and project delivery for a diverse portfolio of clients and agencies. We're particularly interested in candidates based in Northwest Florida, though we welcome qualified professionals from across the state with demonstrated expertise in environmental planning and compliance.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Conduct environmental site assessments, Phase I environmental site assessments, and environmental impact analyses
- Develop permit applications and compliance documentation for state and federal environmental agencies
- Coordinate with regulatory agencies to secure project approvals and maintain permit compliance
- Perform environmental data collection, analysis, and technical reporting
- Lead or contribute to environmental planning studies and feasibility assessments
- Interface with clients to understand environmental requirements and project timelines
- Maintain documentation and quality standards for all environmental deliverables
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Biology, Geology, or a related field
- 3 to 7 years of professional experience in environmental consulting, planning, or regulatory compliance
- Working knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations and permitting processes
- Experience preparing environmental permits, assessments, and compliance documentation
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for client and agency interaction
- Proficiency with standard office and technical software tools
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet regulatory deadlines
