Environmental Health and Safety Specialist

GDH is hiring an Environmental Health and Safety Specialist for our Barstow, San Bernardino County operations. This is a full-time, on-site role where you'll lead health, safety, and environmental compliance efforts across construction projects, protecting our workforce and maintaining regulatory standards.

About the Role

As Environmental Health and Safety Specialist at GDH, you'll be the driving force behind our commitment to a workplace where every person goes home safe. You'll develop and execute comprehensive safety programs, conduct site inspections, investigate incidents, and ensure our operations meet or exceed federal, state, and local environmental and occupational safety requirements. Your work directly impacts the wellbeing of our teams and the success of our projects.

What You'll Do

• Design, implement, and oversee safety protocols and environmental management systems across multiple construction sites
• Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify hazards and ensure regulatory compliance
• Investigate accidents, near-misses, and safety violations; document findings and recommend corrective actions
• Develop and deliver safety training to field personnel and management teams
• Maintain detailed records of safety performance, incidents, and compliance documentation
• Stay current with OSHA regulations, environmental laws, and industry best practices
• Partner with project managers and site supervisors to embed safety into daily operations
• Build and reinforce a culture where safety is everyone's responsibility

What We're Looking For

• OSHA 30-hour certification or equivalent safety credential; CSP, CIH, or similar professional certification preferred
• Proven experience as an EHS professional, ideally in construction or heavy industrial environments
• Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local health, safety, and environmental regulations
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to train and influence others
• Detail-oriented with strong documentation and organizational abilities
• Ability to work independently while collaborating across teams and management levels
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel between multiple job sites
