Engineered Materials Solutions is hiring a New Business Development Manager to drive commercial growth across the Midwest region of the United States. About This Position
You'll serve as a core member of our commercial development team, responsible for generating sales leads, closing new business, and serving as the primary point of contact for customer relationships. Your role bridges our internal operations with external market demands, requiring you to contribute technical insights on product development while advancing strategic growth initiatives. This position demands extensive travel throughout the region to build relationships and uncover opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Drive revenue growth through proactive market development strategies that expand customer base and market share
- Conduct thorough market research and competitive analysis to identify new product applications and sales channels
- Manage the complete sales cycle from lead generation through deal closure, serving as the main customer contact
- Develop and implement business strategies encompassing product positioning, pricing models, and distribution approaches
- Execute coordinated marketing initiatives and represent the company at industry trade shows and exhibitions
- Coordinate with internal teams including engineers, product managers, and operations to understand customer requirements and deliver solutions
- Assess product viability and market demand based on customer technical needs and industry trends
- Provide weekly management updates, monthly and quarterly forecasts, and annual demand projections
- Maintain extensive internal and external communication networks across the organization and industry
- Perform related sales activities and support company objectives as needed
Who We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Metallurgy, or a closely related field
- Minimum ten years of documented business development experience with proven success in growing revenue
- Established expertise in the metals industry with knowledge of production operations and competitive landscape
- Self-directed professional with high energy, unwavering commitment to excellence, and consistent ability to exceed objectives
- Demonstrated creative problem-solving and ability to identify applications beyond traditional product markets
- Strong collaborative approach to working across cross-functional teams and organizational levels
- Proficiency with CRM platforms and modern sales tools
- Excellent communication abilities, including persuasive presentation skills and clear written expression
- Willingness to travel extensively—approximately 50 to 75% of the time—throughout the assigned region
