General Motors is hiring a full-time Electrician Journeyperson at our Parma Metal Center facility in South Arlington, Summit County. This is an excellent opportunity for a licensed, experienced electrician to apply your technical expertise in a manufacturing environment and contribute to world-class automotive production.
About the Role
As an Electrician Journeyperson, you'll perform skilled electrical work across our facility's systems and equipment. This position reports to supervision but operates with considerable independence, allowing you to take ownership of complex projects from start to finish. You'll serve as a technical resource for troubleshooting and problem-solving on industrial systems.
What You'll Do
- Layout, install, and repair electrical systems, wiring, and equipment following blueprints and code requirements
- Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on motors, drives, controls, and associated equipment
- Diagnose electrical malfunctions using testing tools and troubleshoot control systems to restore production equipment to full operation
- Wire, test, and troubleshoot industrial control circuits including PLCs, variable frequency drives, and automation systems
- Collaborate with production, maintenance, and engineering teams to meet facility uptime and safety goals
- Document work completed and maintain accurate maintenance records
- Follow all safety procedures and OSHA regulations in a manufacturing setting
What We're Looking For
- Current Journeyperson electrician license or equivalent credentials
- Proven experience with industrial electrical systems and manufacturing equipment
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills with hand tools and electrical testing equipment
- Working knowledge of control systems, motors, and automation technology
- Ability to read electrical schematics and blueprints
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Reliable attendance and strong work ethic
