Electrical Engineer

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential robotics client seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to provide critical manufacturing and validation support for their electromechanical hardware operations in Malaysia. This is an onsite position based in Penang, working directly with contract manufacturing partners to ensure product quality, test readiness, and production excellence.

In this hands-on role, you'll serve as the local engineering presence supporting builds, troubleshooting electrical systems, guiding EMI testing activities, and overseeing the development of test fixtures that improve manufacturing outcomes. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams across electrical engineering, systems, quality, and manufacturing to drive root cause analysis and implement effective solutions.

Responsibilities

• Provide on-the-ground electrical engineering support for manufacturing builds, new product introduction activities, and sustaining production operations at contract manufacturing facilities in Malaysia
• Troubleshoot electrical failures during manufacturing, system bring-up, and integration; drive root cause analysis through to resolution
• Support yield improvement initiatives, failure analysis, rework guidance, and corrective actions for PCBAs, harnesses, power systems, and electromechanical assemblies
• Plan and execute EMI scanning activities, including test setup review, debug support, issue isolation, mitigation follow-up, and comprehensive documentation
• Collaborate with design and systems teams to identify emission sources and implement electrical mitigation strategies such as grounding, shielding, filtering, layout optimization, and cable-routing improvements
• Provide technical guidance for in-assembly coverage test fixtures, including requirements definition, electrical interfaces, instrumentation, safety considerations, and test coverage expectations
• Support development, debug, and continuous improvement of test fixtures used for board-level and system-level verification and manufacturing test
• Partner with contract manufacturers, test partners, and local suppliers to resolve production and test challenges, improve readiness, and ensure reliable execution
• Create and maintain test procedures, troubleshooting guides, engineering documentation, and validation records
• Communicate clearly with remote cross-functional teams to drive timely issue resolution

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering discipline, or equivalent practical experience
• 4+ years of experience in electrical engineering, hardware validation, manufacturing support, or test engineering for electromechanical products
• Hands-on experience troubleshooting electrical and electromechanical systems in laboratory, manufacturing, or field environments
• Demonstrated experience supporting contract manufacturers, suppliers, or production lines for electronic products
• Familiarity with EMI or EMC pre-scan testing, lab setup, electrical debug, and compliance-oriented validation workflows
• Experience working with PCBAs, power distribution, cables, harnesses, and embedded hardware systems
• Ability to read and review schematics, wiring diagrams, test setups, and technical drawings
• Hands-on proficiency with laboratory equipment including oscilloscopes, power supplies, digital multimeters, spectrum analyzers, electronic loads, and similar diagnostic tools
• Strong problem-solving skills with ability to independently drive technical work through ambiguity
• Proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional engineering, manufacturing, quality, and supplier teams

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in robotics, automation, consumer electronics, automotive, aerospace, medical device, or other complex electromechanical industries
• Familiarity with design for manufacturing, design for test, and production test methodologies
• Experience supporting EMC mitigation through board-level, cable-level, or system-level design modifications
• Experience defining or developing electrical test fixtures, manufacturing test stations, or validation setups
• Experience developing test automation tools using Python, LabVIEW, Bash, or similar scripting languages
• Familiarity with PLM, ECO, or hardware change management workflows

Additional Requirements:

• This role is based onsite in Penang, Malaysia
• Occasional travel required to support suppliers, manufacturing partners, test activities, and engineering validation efforts
• Position requires high degree of hands-on execution while collaborating with remote cross-functional teams
