Director of Strategic Philanthropy

Join Hamilton Families as Director of Strategic Philanthropy in Sonoma, Sonoma County, and lead fundraising efforts to advance our mission of ending family homelessness across the San Francisco Bay Area. In this full-time position, you'll develop and execute comprehensive development strategies that secure the resources we need to help families achieve lasting housing stability and self-sufficiency.

About the Role

As Director of Strategic Philanthropy at Hamilton Families, you'll be at the forefront of our growth and impact. You'll shape how we cultivate relationships with major donors, foundation partners, and community supporters who share our vision for a Bay Area where housing is accessible, affordable, and where homelessness is rare, brief, and nonrecurring. This position reports to senior leadership and plays a central role in advancing our financial sustainability and program expansion.

What You'll Do

• Develop and lead a comprehensive fundraising strategy aligned with organizational goals and market opportunities
• Cultivate and steward relationships with individual donors, corporate partners, and foundation prospects
• Identify and pursue major gift and grant funding opportunities that support our mission
• Oversee the development team, fostering a high-performing culture focused on mission delivery
• Create annual development plans with clear metrics, timelines, and accountability measures
• Manage grant proposals, reporting, and funder relationships
• Present compelling cases for support to prospective donors and funding sources

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience in nonprofit fundraising and development leadership
• Track record of success cultivating and securing major gifts and grants
• Strategic thinker who can design scalable, sustainable fundraising programs
• Strong relationship-building and communication skills
• Experience managing development teams or leading fundraising functions
• Genuine passion for ending family homelessness and supporting families in need
• Familiarity with the San Francisco Bay Area nonprofit landscape highly valued
