Craven County Schools is hiring a full-time Exceptional Children's Preschool Support Staff and Bus Monitor in New Bern, to provide direct care and transportation support for preschool-aged children in our exceptional children's program.
Position Summary
This full-time role supports children ages three through four within Craven County Schools' exceptional children's preschool program. Working under the direction of the Exceptional Children's Preschool Coordination team, you'll combine classroom assistance with bus monitoring responsibilities over a 10-month employment period. The position is a non-exempt role (Pay Grade 55) offering stable, predictable work supporting early childhood development and safe student transportation.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide daily support and direct care for preschool-aged children in the exceptional children's program
- Assist with classroom activities, learning exercises, and routines designed for three- to four-year-olds
- Support students' physical, emotional, and social development throughout the school day
- Monitor and supervise students during bus transportation, ensuring safety and appropriate behavior
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized classroom and bus environment
- Communicate with parents, teachers, and coordinators about student needs and progress
- Follow all school safety protocols and exceptional children's program guidelines
