About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential cybersecurity organization in their search for a Director of Content Marketing. Our client is a global leader in enterprise security solutions, and this role will serve as the architect of their content strategy, ensuring thought leadership and marketing assets are strategic and differentiated. You'll bring clarity, consistency, and authority to messaging while working at the intersection of corporate communications, research, product marketing, and revenue marketing.

Reporting to the Vice President of Corporate Communications, you'll lead the content marketing team, combining strategic planning with hands-on writing and editorial leadership. This position requires a journalistic approach to developing content that engages and informs technical B2B audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Lead programmatic growth initiatives including a global leadership council for senior security executives. Nurture relationships with CISOs, coordinate peer-to-peer engagement, and translate technical insights into original reports and content. Partner with research teams to influence the research calendar and drive thought leadership initiatives.
  • GEO/SEO Optimization: Implement a Generative Engine Optimization (GEO)-first approach to all external marketing content. Ensure assets are optimized for visibility, authority, and citation potential across AI-powered answer engines, AI-assisted search, and traditional search results.
  • AI-Enabled Workflows: Implement and manage AI-enabled content workflows that drive efficiency, scalability, and quality across the content function.
  • Editorial Framework: Champion the editorial voice across external thought leadership materials. Manage the editorial calendar, blog strategy, and writing style guide to ensure cohesive, high-quality narrative across all touchpoints. Generate blog copy for rapid response on highly technical cybersecurity topics.
  • Multi-Format Content Creation: Direct the creation of high-impact content including research reports, SEO/GEO-optimized web pages, video scripts, and derivative content mapped to the buyer journey.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as a trusted advisor to stakeholders across corporate communications, product marketing, product management, research, web, creative, and revenue marketing teams. Translate business priorities into effective content initiatives.
  • Performance Analysis: Monitor, report, and analyze content KPIs including organic visibility, engagement, and pipeline contribution. Use insights to refine strategies and demonstrate business impact.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience: 8-10+ years in content marketing, corporate marketing, or journalism, with at least 5+ years of leadership experience at an enterprise-scale organization
  • Team Management: Demonstrated experience managing a content team while maintaining the ability to write high-quality, technical content across various platforms
  • GEO/AEO Expertise: Fluency in the emerging AI search landscape with understanding of how LLMs and answer engines consume content and how to optimize for them
  • Strategic and Operational Balance: Ability to define high-level content frameworks while also being hands-on with editing and writing high-priority assets
  • Cybersecurity Background: Experience creating content for technical B2B cybersecurity audiences; comfort with editing technical and research content on security topics
  • Stakeholder Management: Proven track record operating in highly matrixed environments with ability to secure buy-in from senior leadership and drive collaboration across diverse teams
  • Editorial Excellence: Demonstrated experience protecting editorial brand voice and standards with sharp eye for quality and ability to coach writers (AP Style preferred)
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, journalism, English, or related field
