Director, AI Platforms – Data & Technology

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential life sciences organization seeking a Director, AI Platforms to lead platform engineering for enterprise-scale AI delivery. This is a fully remote position based in Poland.

In this role, you will own the AI platform stack—including infrastructure, orchestration, and environment management—that powers AI solutions across the organization. You will lead a technical team responsible for building reliable, scalable platforms consumed by internal product teams, delivery pods, and citizen developers. This is a hands-on, working-leader role requiring deep technical expertise combined with a service-oriented approach to platform engineering.

Responsibilities

• Define and evolve AI platform strategy in alignment with enterprise AI direction and make architectural decisions for AI-first platforms
• Ensure platform reliability, performance, and observability for AI workloads in production environments
• Establish service-level expectations, capacity planning, and consumption models that support multiple internal customer groups
• Manage operational relationships with AI-specific vendors including performance tracking, contract management, and escalation handling
• Partner with engineering teams to ensure platform capabilities meet product delivery needs
• Collaborate with quality and compliance teams on validation tooling pipelines and audit readiness
• Lead and develop a team of platform engineers while remaining technically hands-on
• Build platforms as products with clear interfaces, dependable performance, and scalable consumption models

What We're Looking For

Essential Requirements:

• Director-level experience in Platform Engineering, Data Engineering, or AI/ML infrastructure roles
• Direct advanced experience operating AI platforms in production (GenAI runtimes, vector databases, agent orchestration, MLOps tooling, evaluation infrastructure)
• Strong technical depth in cloud-based platform engineering (AWS or Azure)
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with engineering, vendor, and business stakeholders
• Ability to make architectural trade-offs and translate them into clear engineering direction
• Service-oriented mindset with ability to partner effectively with internal platform consumers
• Comfort working in regulated environments; familiarity with life sciences or GxP-adjacent industries

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's degree in a technical discipline
• Familiarity with Palantir Foundry, enterprise GenAI platforms, or custom assistant infrastructure
• Experience navigating shared infrastructure organizations
• Vendor management experience including contract terms, performance management, and commercial negotiation support
