Direct Support Professional (Part Time and Full Time shifts available in and around Angola, IN)

Easterseals is seeking a Direct Support Professional to join our team in Oakwood Shores, Steuben County, providing part‑time and full‑time support for individuals with disabilities in the Angola, IN area.

About the Role

As a Direct Support Professional, you will assist individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities in achieving greater independence and participating fully in community life. This position offers flexible scheduling options, including day, evening, and weekend shifts, to accommodate both part‑time and full‑time preferences.

What You'll Do

• Support clients with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, meal preparation, and mobility.
• Implement individualized support plans designed to promote skill development and personal goals.
• Facilitate community engagement by accompanying clients to appointments, recreational activities, and vocational settings.
• Administer medication and perform health‑related tasks only after completing required training and certification.
• Maintain accurate records of services provided, progress notes, and any incidents in accordance with agency policies.
• Encourage choice, self‑advocacy, and respect for each person’s preferences and cultural background.
• Communicate regularly with families, guardians, and interdisciplinary team members to ensure coordinated care.
• Participate in ongoing training sessions to stay current with best practices in disability support.

What We're Looking For

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent educational background.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for travel to client homes and community sites.
• Ability to pass a comprehensive background check and drug screening.
• Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
• Previous experience in caregiving, human services, or a related field is advantageous but not required.
• Strong interpersonal skills, patience, and a genuine commitment to enhancing quality of life for people with disabilities.
• Flexibility to work varying shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Willingness to complete all agency‑mandated orientations and continuing education courses.
