What This Role Involves

This Defense Analyst position centers on supporting the Navy's participation in the annual Defense Authorization and Appropriations process. You'll work within established planning, programming, budgeting, and execution frameworks to analyze defense requirements, track program milestones, and develop evidence-based recommendations that directly shape military spending priorities. Your analytical insights will help the Navy articulate budget needs and defend strategic initiatives at the highest levels of the Department of Defense.

What You'll Do

• Conduct in-depth analysis of defense budgets, resource allocation, and program performance using established DoD planning systems and databases
• Prepare comprehensive reports and briefing materials that synthesize complex budget data and strategic recommendations for Navy leadership
• Coordinate across Navy departments and external stakeholders to gather requirements data and validate program information
• Track program milestones, resource commitments, and budget execution to identify risks and opportunities
• Support the development of policy recommendations and justifications for defense spending decisions
• Maintain detailed records and manage data within government systems to ensure accuracy and compliance

Skills & Qualifications

• An active or current U.S. security clearance at the Secret level or higher (required for this position)
• Demonstrated experience with budget analysis, government contracting, or defense program management
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to work with large datasets and complex financial information
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities for preparing reports and presenting findings to senior stakeholders
• Familiarity with DoD planning, programming, budgeting, and execution (PPBE) processes or similar government frameworks
• Ability to manage multiple competing priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced, mission-focused environment
• Proficiency with standard business and analytical software applications
