About the Role

As a Marine Tour Deckhand and Naturalist, you'll be part of a professional crew delivering unforgettable guest experiences aboard our vessels operating from Hoonah. Reporting directly to the Captain, your primary focus is ensuring passenger safety, comfort, and enjoyment throughout each excursion. Your dual responsibilities combine essential vessel operations with direct guest engagement, making you the face of our company for every visitor aboard.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Maintain and clean all vessel areas, including decks, cabins, and guest spaces to hospitality standards
• Stock and organize provisions, equipment, and supplies needed for daily operations
• Perform routine vessel maintenance and assist with mechanical support as directed
• Welcome and assist guests throughout their tour experience
• Share knowledge about local wildlife, marine ecosystems, and the natural beauty of Southeast Alaska
• Monitor passenger safety and comfort, responding attentively to guest needs
• Support the Captain and crew with deck operations and vessel navigation requirements

Requirements

• Strong physical fitness and ability to work in a dynamic marine environment
• Genuine enthusiasm for wildlife, naturalist topics, and Alaska's ecosystems
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills
• Attention to detail and commitment to safety protocols
• Ability to work flexible schedules including weekends and extended daylight hours
• Willingness to perform diverse tasks in varying weather conditions
