This full-time, on-site role places you at the heart of one of Southeast Alaska's premier outdoor destinations.

About the Role

As a Bear Safety team member with Icy Strait Point LLC, your central mission is to ensure that everyone traveling by bus or on foot along the Spasski Bear Trail and the ISP Hiking Trail enjoys a safe, memorable, high-quality experience. This is a seasonal position based in Hoonah, Alaska, running from April through September 2026. You will be a visible, attentive presence on the trails, watching for wildlife and guiding visitors so that human and bear encounters stay safe for all.

Key Responsibilities

• Prioritize guest safety at all times while people are transported by bus and traveling on foot.
• Monitor the Spasski Bear Trail and the ISP Hiking Trail for bear activity and other wildlife.
• Deliver a welcoming, high-quality visitor experience consistent with Icy Strait Point standards.
• Communicate clearly with guests and coordinate with the broader security team.
• Respond appropriately to changing trail and wildlife conditions to keep visitors protected.

• Commitment to safety as the foremost priority in every interaction.
• Comfort working outdoors and on foot in an Alaskan trail environment.
• Strong communication and guest-service skills.
• Ability to stay alert and composed around wildlife.
• Availability for the full seasonal period, April through September 2026, in Hoonah, Alaska.

Compensation

This seasonal Bear Safety position offers $19.00 per hour with bonus potential. The role reports to the Security Manager.
