Dean, Inc is hiring a part-time Environmental Safety Health / Quality 2 (ESQ) through its Dean|Fluor joint venture, based in Tysons Corner, Fairfax County, Virginia — an opportunity to contribute to high-impact infrastructure projects alongside two of the industry's most recognized engineering firms.

About the Role

This part-time ESQ position supports Dean|Fluor's environmental, safety, health, and quality programs across active project operations. You'll serve as a hands-on resource for maintaining safe working conditions, ensuring regulatory compliance, and upholding the quality standards central to Dean|Fluor's work on government and commercial engagements in the Tysons Corner area and beyond.

What You'll Do

• Perform routine site safety inspections, environmental compliance checks, and workplace hazard assessments
• Monitor adherence to OSHA regulations, applicable federal and state environmental requirements, and internal ESH&Q policies
• Investigate incidents, near-miss events, and unsafe conditions; document findings and track corrective actions to closure
• Conduct quality control observations to verify work aligns with project specifications and established standards
• Prepare and maintain accurate ESH&Q records, logs, and regulatory documentation
• Facilitate toolbox talks, safety briefings, and informal training sessions for on-site personnel
• Serve as a point of coordination between project managers, subcontractors, and client representatives on all ESH&Q matters

What We're Looking For

• Prior experience in environmental, safety, health, or quality roles — construction, federal contracting, or engineering settings preferred
• Solid understanding of OSHA 29 CFR 1926 (construction) and/or 29 CFR 1910 (general industry) standards
• Familiarity with quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) processes and documentation practices
• Clear written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail in recordkeeping
• Flexibility to work a part-time schedule aligned with project demands
• Professional certifications such as OSHA 30-Hour, CSP, or CIH are a plus
