Data Governance Lead (São Paulo, Brasil)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential nonprofit organization seeking a Data Governance Lead to join their Data & AI team in São Paulo, Brazil. This is a full-time, remote-first role requiring proximity to their São Paulo office.

In this position, you will own data standards, definitions, and sensitivity classification across the organization's data platform. You'll ensure the platform and analytics comply with relevant laws and documentation requirements while building data literacy across the organization.

Data Standards & Governance (35%):

• Establish and maintain organizational data standards, definitions, and sensitivity classifications
• Ensure the data platform and analytics practices comply with relevant laws and internal policy

Data Literacy & Adoption (30%):

• Drive adoption of data standards across teams, ensuring they are used in practice, not just documented
• Develop training, documentation, and enablement materials so teams can confidently interpret and trust available data

Cross-Team Partnership (25%):

• Partner with Senior Analytics Engineers and Data Engineers to ensure new models and pipelines are built to standard from the start
• Support various teams in applying data standards consistently across their work

Strategic Innovation & Business Impact (10%):

• Evaluate and pilot new tools or approaches for data cataloging, lineage, and standards enforcement
• Track and articulate how improved data literacy and standards adoption reduce rework and improve decision quality

First 6-12 Month Objectives:

• Create data classification concepts (public, private, sensitive, etc.)
• Apply classification concepts to organizational data
• Enable teams to understand concepts and how to interact with them
• Align the data platform with regulatory requirements and laws

What We're Looking For

• 3+ years of experience in data modeling and/or data governance roles
• Working knowledge of SQL and data models sufficient to audit and advise on governance implementation
• Experience establishing and maintaining data standards, definitions, and sensitivity/classification frameworks
• Experience communicating technical data concepts to non-technical stakeholders and driving adoption of standards across teams
• Familiarity with data-related legal and regulatory requirements relevant to data platforms and analytics
• Strong written communication skills and comfort building clear, discoverable documentation
• Ability to influence without direct authority across departments
• Excellent facilitation skills for live and asynchronous trainings or workshops on data governance
• BA/BS in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field preferred
• Fluent in English
• Must be a resident of Brazil at start of employment with full Brazilian work authorization (CLT contract)
• Must be within commuting distance of São Paulo

Pay
