Data Engineer Confirmed – Core Data Product(f/m/d)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential retail technology organization seeking an experienced Data Engineer to join their Core Data Product team in Paris or Villeneuve-d'Ascq. This role sits at the heart of strategic decision-making, building a unified Single Source of Truth that powers analytics and AI models across the business.

You will join one of several specialized product teams focused on areas including foundations and operational excellence, product design and sustainability impact, supply chain and inventory, sales and pricing strategy, or customer interaction analytics. Each team pairs a Tech Lead with a Product Manager to deliver mission-critical data products.

Your day-to-day responsibilities include:

• Contributing to technical stack strategy and ensuring robust CI/CD pipelines
• Maintaining and redesigning existing datasets and pipelines to serve broader use cases
• Designing, developing, and industrializing complex data models for analyzing usage patterns, quality metrics, and data maturity
• Proactively analyzing functional requirements and understanding end-user workflows and stakeholder needs
• Acting as a technical expert to guide data teams in effective product utilization
• Active participation in the data engineering community
• Promoting best practices including mob programming, TDD, and comprehensive documentation
• Implementing monitoring and automation solutions to reduce manual workload and improve team efficiency

The technical stack includes AWS S3, Glue, EMR, Databricks with Unity Catalog, Apache Spark (PySpark), Airflow orchestration (Python), Kafka, open-source frameworks like Great Expectations and Open Lineage, and GitHub.

What We're Looking For

• Confirmed expertise in SQL and Python (PySpark) for handling and optimizing large-scale data volumes
• Solid experience with Databricks, EMR, and Airflow with the ability to select appropriate tools for specific patterns
• Deep understanding of data modeling approaches (Kimball, OBT) and critical concepts including lineage, governance, and data contracts
• Experience working in agile environments with pair/mob programming and code review practices
• Strong documentation skills to ensure sustainable solutions
• Excellent relationship-building abilities to rally stakeholders around technical solutions
• Fluent English for working in an international context

The role offers hybrid work (2 days remote per week) with office locations in either Lille or Paris.
