Role Overview

We are seeking a strategic people leader with deep expertise in Te Tiriti o Waitangi, cultural capability development, and Crown–Māori relationships to join our team as a Capability Development Manager (Treaty and Māori). This is a full-time permanent position based in Hamilton.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategies for enhancing the cultural capability of staff across Te Papa Atawhai.
  • Liaise with Crown–Māori partners to ensure effective collaboration and relationship-building.
  • Lead initiatives that support the Treaty Operating Model, ensuring alignment with our vision: Nature is thriving in Aotearoa | Te Oranga o te Ao Tūroa Mō te tūranga
  • Contribute to the development of a culturally responsive work environment and practices within the organization.

What We're Looking For

  • A proven track record in strategic people leadership, with experience in cultural capability development.
  • In-depth knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles and Crown–Māori relationships.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience in developing and implementing policies and programs that support Māori engagement and partnership.
