The Biostatistician will support the growing Cape Fear Valley Health School of Medicine, a candidate institution pursuing LCME accreditation with a charter class slated for summer 2026. Working closely with faculty, clinicians, and research teams, you will provide statistical expertise that drives rigorous study design, data analysis, and interpretation for biomedical and public health projects. This position is based on‑site in Lafayette, Cumberland County, and contributes to the university’s mission of training socially accountable, equity‑focused physicians.What You'll Do- Collaborate with investigators to formulate research questions and develop statistically sound study protocols
- Design sampling strategies, power calculations, and randomization plans for clinical trials and observational studies
- Manage and clean large datasets using statistical software such as R, SAS, or Stata
- Apply appropriate analytical methods including regression modeling, survival analysis, longitudinal data techniques, and Bayesian approaches
- Generate clear, reproducible reports, tables, and graphics for manuscripts, grant applications, and presentations
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and best practices for data integrity and confidentiality
- Participate in interdisciplinary meetings, providing statistical guidance and interpreting results for non‑technical stakeholders
- Contribute to methodological innovation by staying current with emerging biostatistical techniques and advising on their application
What We're Looking For- Master’s or doctoral degree in Biostatistics, Statistics, Epidemiology, or a closely related quantitative field
- Demonstrated experience applying statistical methods to biomedical or clinical research
- Proficiency with at least one major statistical programming language (R, SAS, Stata, or Python)
- Strong understanding of clinical trial design, observational epidemiology, and data management principles
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex statistical concepts for diverse audiences
- Detail‑oriented mindset and a commitment to reproducible, transparent research practices
- Experience working in academic medical centers or health‑science schools is preferred
