Community High School District 128 is seeking an Assistant Girls Swim Coach to join the coaching staff at Vernon Hills High School (VHHS) in Vernon Hills, Lake County. In this full-time position, you'll coach student swimmers, develop competitive training programs, and contribute to building excellence in our aquatics program.
About the Role
As Assistant Girls Swim Coach at VHHS, you'll work alongside the head coach to provide instruction, mentorship, and leadership to our competitive swimming team. You'll focus on athlete development, program management, and fostering a positive team environment.
What You'll Do
- Coach and mentor girls swimmers during practice and competition
- Design and implement training programs focused on technique, conditioning, and competitive performance
- Manage pool operations, equipment maintenance, and facility standards
- Monitor athlete health, safety, and compliance with school athletic policies
- Support team discipline, attendance, and positive conduct expectations
- Collaborate with the head coach and other athletic staff on program goals
- Assist with recruit identification and team-building initiatives
What We're Looking For
- Prior coaching or competitive swimming experience
- Knowledge of competitive swim training methods and stroke fundamentals
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Current or ability to obtain CPR/AED and First Aid certification
- Commitment to athlete safety, development, and academic success
- Collaborative approach to working with coaching staff and school administration
- Valid driver's license

Compensation
Compensation is determined in accordance with the Teacher Union Agreement, Appendix B Extra Curricular Pay Schedule.
