VP, Legal Commercial

Teradata is seeking a strategic and experienced VP, Legal Commercial to join our team in Tumwater, Thurston County, where you will lead the legal function powering our enterprise data and AI business.

About the Role

As VP, Legal Commercial at Teradata, you will serve as a senior legal leader guiding the commercial agreements, negotiations, and risk strategies that support a global technology organization. This full-time, on-site position in Tumwater, Thurston County partners closely with sales, product, and executive leadership to enable growth while safeguarding the company's interests.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the drafting, review, and negotiation of complex commercial contracts, including enterprise software licensing, cloud services, and partnership agreements.
• Advise business and executive stakeholders on legal risk, regulatory considerations, and deal structuring.
• Build and mentor a high-performing commercial legal team, setting standards for quality and responsiveness.
• Develop scalable processes, templates, and playbooks that accelerate deal cycles without compromising compliance.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to align legal strategy with Teradata's business objectives.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) and active membership in good standing with a relevant bar association.
• Extensive experience in commercial and technology transactions, ideally within enterprise software, cloud, or data analytics.
• Proven leadership managing legal teams and influencing senior stakeholders.
• Strong negotiation skills and sound judgment balancing business priorities with risk management.
• Excellent communication abilities and a collaborative, solutions-oriented approach.
