Associate Director, Internal Tax Team – Federal Direct Tax

Deloitte seeks a full-time Associate Director to lead the Federal Direct Tax team within our US Firms Tax group, based at William Penn Annex East in Philadelphia County. You'll direct strategic federal tax operations, return preparation, and tax planning that form the foundation of our firm's tax compliance and strategy.

About the Role

As Associate Director of our Federal Direct Tax division, you'll oversee sophisticated tax operations and lead a team managing our firm's federal taxation initiatives. This leadership position involves hands-on direction of technical work, strategic planning, and the coordination of complex tax matters across the organization.

What You'll Do

• Direct reconciliation between book and tax accounting across multiple entity structures
• Oversee determination of federal taxable income and federal return preparation
• Lead preparation and filing of federal partnership tax returns
• Develop yearend tax forecasts to support organizational planning
• Perform advanced tax research and analysis on planning opportunities and compliance requirements
• Supervise team members and manage delivery of tax operations workload
• Partner with finance and business leadership on tax strategy and implications
• Stay informed of federal tax law changes and communicate implications to stakeholders

What We're Looking For

• Deep background in federal taxation, tax accounting, or professional services tax operations
• Substantial expertise in federal partnership taxation and book-tax accounting
• Proven success leading and developing teams in professional environments
• Strong analytical abilities with meticulous attention to technical accuracy
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Hands-on proficiency with tax software and accounting systems
• CPA license or advanced tax degree (LL.M. in Tax) strongly preferred
