Assistant Grocery Manager

Northeast Grocery in Cooperstown, Otsego County is seeking an Assistant Grocery Manager to join our team. In this full-time role, you'll work alongside our Grocery Manager to oversee our grocery department, lead our staff, and ensure customers consistently experience quality service and well-maintained shopping conditions.

About the Role

As Assistant Grocery Manager, you'll take on meaningful responsibility for the day-to-day performance and operations of our grocery department. You'll divide your time between supporting the Grocery Manager with strategic and financial planning, directly supervising our grocery team, and maintaining the high standards that define the Northeast Grocery shopping experience. What You'll Do

• Collaborate with the Grocery Manager on budgeting, financial performance tracking, and achievement of departmental goals
• Supervise and motivate grocery department team members to maintain productivity and service excellence
• Oversee product rotation, shelf life management, and inventory accuracy across the grocery section
• Maintain professional, appealing merchandising displays and ensure compliance with company standards
• Provide knowledgeable, attentive customer service and handle customer inquiries or concerns promptly
• Support the department's contribution to overall store profitability and sales targets

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience in grocery retail, supermarket operations, or retail management
• Demonstrated ability to lead, train, and supervise team members effectively
• Working knowledge of grocery merchandising, inventory control, and store operations
• Strong interpersonal skills and commitment to customer-focused service
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work full-time with schedule flexibility to include evenings and weekends as needed
