About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential industrial software client in Stuttgart that is transforming plastics manufacturing through real-time process optimization technology. Our talent team is searching for an Application Engineer (m/f/d) – Plastics Processing to lead technical implementations and customer success initiatives.

This role combines hands-on plastics engineering expertise with project coordination, working directly with manufacturing clients in medical devices, automotive, and consumer goods sectors across Germany and the EU.

Responsibilities

• Conduct technical requirements assessments on-site: machine configuration, data availability, OT connectivity
• Coordinate integration of machine controllers and OPC UA interfaces
• Configure software systems for specific processes (material, machine, quality targets)
• Train machine operators, shift supervisors, and process engineers on system usage
• Manage handover to stable production operation and provide ongoing technical support
• Lead implementation projects independently from kickoff through completion
• Translate shop floor feedback and customer requirements into structured feature requests for the development team
• Travel approximately 10–20% within Germany and EU

What We're Looking For

Required:

• Completed degree in plastics engineering, mechanical engineering, process engineering, or similar – OR technician certification with relevant professional experience
• Practical experience in plastics processing, specifically injection molding: setup, optimization, troubleshooting
• Hands-on experience with at least one common injection molding machine control system (e.g., Arburg Selogica/Gestica, Engel CC300, Demag NC5)
• Basic understanding of industrial OT environments: OPC-UA, machine data, and edge devices (no programming skills required)
• Experience coordinating technical projects with structured, independent working style
• German fluent (business language), English B2+
• Willingness to travel 10–20% (Germany + EU)

Nice-to-Have:

• Experience with extrusion processes
• Knowledge of data analysis or industrial software implementations
• Comfortable using AI tools like Claude or ChatGPT in daily work
