Senior Data Scientist (m/f/x)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential SaaS client in the product lifecycle and sustainability technology space. They are seeking a Senior Data Scientist to join their growing team and build production-grade AI systems that enable smarter, more responsible decision-making across global supply chains.

This is a remote position open to candidates legally authorized to work in the EU. The role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge AI infrastructure during a high-growth phase, balancing innovation with engineering excellence.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deploy production-grade AI systems, building and maintaining scalable APIs that serve AI/ML models in live environments
• Own end-to-end delivery of AI solutions from prototyping through full productionization
• Design and implement Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems using vector databases
• Build and orchestrate AI agents using frameworks such as LangGraph, CrewAI, or similar tools
• Evaluate and select appropriate large language models and foundation models based on specific use cases
• Continuously optimize model inference for latency, cost efficiency, and throughput at scale
• Implement robust monitoring, logging, and alerting for deployed models and services
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for seamless testing, deployment, and iteration of AI systems
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to integrate AI capabilities into core products
• Help establish engineering best practices as the organization scales from rapid experimentation to structured operations
• Take ownership of ambiguous problems and drive them to practical, production-ready outcomes

What We're Looking For

Core Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience in Python, with approximately 10 years of overall software engineering or data experience (candidates transitioning from backend engineering are welcome)
• Proven experience building and deploying production-grade APIs, preferably with FastAPI (REST/GraphQL experience is a plus)
• Hands-on experience working with large language models and LLMOps, including prompt engineering, fine-tuning, and evaluation (e.g., GPT, Claude)
• Strong experience fine-tuning open-source models within the Hugging Face ecosystem
• Practical experience designing and working with vector databases such as Pinecone, Weaviate, Chroma, or pgvector
• Experience building AI agents using frameworks like LangGraph, LangChain, CrewAI, or similar
• Solid understanding of model deployment and serving (e.g., vLLM, TGI, or managed endpoints)
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and modern deployment practices including Docker, Kubernetes, and GitHub Actions
• Strong experience working with and processing large-scale text datasets
• Legal authorization to work in the EU

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with MLOps platforms such as MLflow or Weights & Biases
• Familiarity with cloud AI ecosystems (AWS Bedrock, GCP Vertex AI, Azure OpenAI)
• Contributions to open-source AI/ML projects
• Experience in sustainability, climate, or product domains
• Background in B2B SaaS environments
• Prior experience in a startup or scale-up environment (approximately 100–300 employees)

Pay

Compensation details will be discussed during the screening process based on experience and qualifications.
