About the Role
Maven is the technological foundation for rapid public health decision-making during disease outbreaks and surveillance operations. As an App Dev & Support Engineer II, you will balance building new capabilities with maintaining system reliability, working alongside epidemiologists, public health officials, and other technical specialists to translate complex requirements into robust solutions.
What You'll Do
- Develop and deploy features that enable Maven to adapt to evolving public health program requirements
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for Maven users across state and local health departments
- Diagnose complex system issues and implement reliable solutions that maintain availability during critical health incidents
- Partner with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and deliver solutions meeting compliance and performance standards
- Review code, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to continuous improvement of development practices
- Create and maintain documentation that supports future development and knowledge sharing across teams
What We're Looking For
- Professional experience developing and maintaining full-stack applications
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with comfort working in ambiguous environments
- Experience managing production systems and responding to operational incidents
- Excellent communication abilities, translating technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders
- Commitment to writing maintainable, thoroughly tested code
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent professional experience
