Role Overview

As Commercial Litigation Lawyer (2 years-Associate) for AFL Recruitment in The Rocks, Sydney you will manage a portfolio of commercial disputes from early case assessment through to final resolution. The full-time role combines hands-on advocacy with strategic input, supported by structured mentoring that accelerates professional development inside a progressive legal practice.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Prepare pleadings, affidavits, submissions and other court documents for use in Australian commercial proceedings
• Conduct targeted legal research and advise on case strategy and risk
• Coordinate discovery, evidence gathering and interlocutory applications
• Appear in mentions, directions hearings and contested applications in the District Court, Supreme Court and Federal Court
• Maintain regular communication with clients, counsel and opposing solicitors
• Contribute to settlement negotiations and alternative dispute resolution processes

What We're Looking For

• At least two years’ post-admission experience in commercial litigation up to associate level
• Demonstrated work across matters in the District Court, Supreme Court and Federal Court
• Sound analytical judgement and courtroom advocacy skills
• Clear, persuasive written and spoken communication
• Capacity to manage concurrent files independently while collaborating effectively within a team
