Role Overview

As a Checker at Hyvee in Mt. Pleasant, you'll operate point-of-sale systems, process customer transactions, and deliver exceptional service at our register. You're the final point of contact before customers leave our store, making this role essential to their shopping experience and to our store's daily operations. This position requires attention to detail, friendly customer interaction, and the ability to work in a dynamic retail environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate cash registers and process payments including cash, card, and digital transactions
• Scan and ring up merchandise accurately, verifying prices and ensuring correct totals
• Provide courteous, efficient customer service while managing checkout flow
• Handle money and reconcile drawer at the end of each shift
• Bag purchases according to customer preference and store standards
• Answer customer questions about products and store policies
• Maintain a clean, organized checkout area
• Follow all Hyvee policies and procedures to support a safe shopping environment

• Basic math skills and accuracy in handling transactions
• Strong customer service orientation and friendly demeanor
• Ability to remain courteous and efficient during high-traffic periods
• Physical ability to stand for extended periods during shifts
• Reliability and consistent attendance
• Willingness to learn point-of-sale technology and store systems
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed
