Bakery Department Manager

Join Hyvee as a Bakery Department Manager at our Des Moines #3 location on Park Avenue. This is a full-time position leading our bakery operations and serving customers throughout the Des Moines community.

Role Overview

As Bakery Department Manager, you'll oversee all aspects of our bakery operation. You'll lead a talented team, maintain high standards for product quality and freshness, and ensure an exceptional shopping experience for bakery customers. This role combines operational management with hands-on responsibility for one of our store's most popular departments.

What You'll Do

• Direct daily bakery operations, including production schedules and staff assignments
• Supervise and mentor bakery team members, ensuring consistent training and performance
• Monitor product quality, freshness, and presentation to meet Hyvee standards
• Manage inventory, ordering, and cost control for bakery supplies and ingredients
• Execute merchandising strategies and promotional activities to drive sales
• Maintain cleanliness, safety, and food safety compliance throughout the department
• Build relationships with customers and respond to their bakery needs and feedback
• Collaborate with store leadership on sales targets and department goals

What You Bring

• Proven experience managing a retail food department or leading a team in a fast-paced environment
• Knowledge of bakery operations, products, and food safety practices
• Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop staff
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively
• Commitment to customer service and creating a positive shopping experience
• Physical ability to perform department duties, including standing for extended periods
• Flexibility to work a schedule that supports store operations, including weekends and holidays
