Sushi Clerk

Position Summary

As a Sushi Clerk, you'll be at the heart of our sushi counter, expertly preparing, assembling, and presenting sushi rolls, nigiri, and specialty items that meet Hyvee's quality standards. You'll work in a fast-paced environment where precision, freshness, and customer satisfaction are paramount. Your attention to detail and commitment to food safety will help us maintain the excellent reputation our sushi program has built with customers throughout the Waterloo area.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and assemble sushi rolls and specialty items according to established recipes and presentation standards
• Maintain strict food safety and sanitation protocols, including proper storage and handling of all ingredients
• Keep the sushi counter clean, organized, and fully stocked throughout your shift
• Manage inventory of sushi ingredients, rice, nori, and other supplies
• Assist customers with product selection and answer questions about ingredients and menu items
• Support front-line customer service while maintaining efficiency behind the counter
• Follow all company policies and local health department requirements

What You Bring

• Experience preparing sushi, or demonstrated ability to learn food preparation techniques quickly
• Strong understanding of food safety practices and attention to hygiene standards
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced retail food environment
• Excellent attention to detail and consistency in food presentation
• Customer service mindset and ability to interact professionally with guests
• Reliability and willingness to work a full-time retail schedule
