Delicatessen Clerk

Position Summary

As a Delicatessen Clerk, you'll be the face of our deli department, preparing fresh products, serving customers, and maintaining the highest standards of food quality and safety. You'll work in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment where attention to detail and friendly service are essential. This role is perfect for someone who takes pride in their work and enjoys interacting with customers in a grocery retail setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Slice and portion deli meats, cheeses, and prepared foods to customer specifications using deli equipment safely and accurately
• Prepare and package deli items, ensuring proper labeling, dating, and freshness standards
• Provide knowledgeable, courteous service to customers; answer product questions and make recommendations
• Maintain clean and sanitary conditions throughout the deli department, including equipment and work surfaces
• Stock shelves and displays with deli products, rotating inventory and removing expired items
• Follow all food safety and health code regulations consistently
• Assist with cash transactions and process customer orders accurately
• Support team members during peak hours and cover additional duties as needed

What We're Looking For

• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
• Ability to operate deli slicers and food preparation equipment safely
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Attention to detail and food safety awareness
• Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds regularly
• Reliable attendance and a positive, team-oriented attitude
• Willingness to learn company procedures and adhere to health standards
