What This Role Involves
As AVP of Program and Project Management, you'll oversee the planning, execution, and completion of enterprise-level programs and projects within Usaa's Life Company division. You'll work at the intersection of strategy and operations, ensuring initiatives align with business goals while maintaining quality, timeline, and budget discipline. This role requires both hands-on leadership and strategic influence across departments.
Core Duties
- Direct the lifecycle of major programs and projects, from concept through delivery and lessons learned
- Establish project governance, timelines, budgets, and resource allocation across multiple initiatives
- Lead cross-functional teams and coordinate with senior stakeholders across the Life Company
- Monitor progress against key performance indicators and communicate status to leadership
- Identify and mitigate risks, manage scope changes, and adapt strategies as circumstances evolve
- Drive continuous improvement in program delivery processes and methodologies
What We're Looking For
- Extensive experience in program or project management within financial services or insurance
- Proven track record managing large-scale programs with multiple workstreams and stakeholders
- Strong leadership capability and ability to influence across organizational boundaries
- Advanced proficiency with project management tools and methodologies
- Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience; advanced certification (PMP, PMI-PgMP) preferred
