Senior Data Scientist

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential defense technology organization seeking a Senior Data Scientist to support mission-critical operations at RAF Mildenhall, UK. This position sits within a specialized team enabling data-driven decision making and digital transformation initiatives that directly impact operational readiness.

As a subject matter expert, you will combine data analysis, engineering, and machine learning expertise to extract insights from complex datasets and deliver actionable intelligence. This role offers the opportunity to work on challenging problems at the intersection of data science and national security.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and analyze structured and unstructured data using exploratory mathematical and statistical techniques
• Coordinate research and analytic activities, employing programming to clean, organize, and manipulate diverse data points
• Experiment with datasets to provide previously undiscovered solutions to complex data challenges
• Collaborate with data engineers to build environments that support advanced analytics
• Develop predictive and prescriptive models using natural language processing, text mining, clustering, and forecasting methods
• Design and automate processes for data manipulation and analysis across dissimilar datasets
• Utilize frameworks such as Spark and Hadoop for large-scale data processing
• Create data visualizations using tools like Tableau, Microsoft Power BI, and R Shiny
• Program using R, Python (NumPy, SciPy, Pandas) or similar analytical languages
• Implement data engineering and modeling techniques using cloud-based platforms such as Databricks, Cloudera, and Snowflake
• Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders through clear storytelling

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum 1 year of hands-on data science experience
• Bachelor's degree in a STEM field
• Proficiency with one or more programming languages (Java, C++, Python, R)
• Demonstrated ability to apply data science methodologies to solve real-world problems
• Active Secret clearance
• Ability to work on-site at RAF Mildenhall, UK

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's degree in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Computer Science, or related fields
• Familiarity with Department of Defense environments and workflows
• Experience with Envision
• Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility
