About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential e-commerce organization operating across multiple European markets. Our client is seeking a Senior Product Design Engineer to join their customer experience team in Berlin and own the complete design lifecycle of consumer-facing digital products across web and native mobile platforms.

This is a high-impact role within a deliberately small, autonomous team where your design work moves directly to production. You'll be responsible for every customer touchpoint across international storefronts, managing a sophisticated design system, and pioneering AI-driven shopping experiences that serve millions of active users.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end design and UX strategy across web, iOS, and Android for all core customer journey stages including homepage, search, product pages, checkout, and order tracking
• Build and maintain a production-grade design system including component architecture, design tokens, patterns, and documentation that supports automated coding workflows
• Define interaction patterns for AI-powered shopping assistance, determining when and how conversational interfaces add genuine value
• Drive hypothesis-led experimentation, prototype rapidly, and rigorously analyze A/B test results to scale winning features and retire underperforming ones
• Conduct qualitative user research directly with customers including usability testing, interviews, and field studies to identify friction points
• Collaborate closely with product, engineering, and commercial teams while providing design guidance that informs technical implementation
• Ensure design consistency across multiple market storefronts while accommodating localized content and brand requirements

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• 5+ years designing consumer-facing digital products with a strong portfolio demonstrating shipped work across web and native mobile (iOS and Android)
• Advanced expertise in Figma and multi-platform design system architecture at the token and component level
• Data-fluent mindset with ability to read and interpret A/B testing data, distinguishing meaningful impact from vanity metrics
• Practical experience integrating AI tools into design, prototyping, and design system workflows
• Demonstrated experience designing, running, and analyzing qualitative usability sessions directly with end users
• Strong product reasoning and excellent English communication skills (C1 level or above) to articulate strategic rationale behind design decisions

Nice-to-haves:

• Experience designing production-grade AI or assistant-driven interfaces
• Ability to contribute directly to code at the component or token level
• Background in e-commerce, quick-commerce, or last-mile delivery
• Familiarity with German customer shopping behaviors
• Fluency in German or Czech
