Head of Warehouse Projects

About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential logistics organization operating across multiple European markets. They are seeking a Head of Warehouse Projects to lead the delivery execution of large-scale warehouse automation initiatives across their expanding network.

This is a high-impact role with single-point accountability for bringing multi-million euro capital projects to life—from goods-to-person system integrations and site retrofits to complete greenfield facility rollouts. You will transform approved operational designs into fully functioning, high-throughput distribution centers, managing vendors, budgets, and cross-functional stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.

Based in Berlin, Germany, this position offers regular international travel across European sites and direct visibility with senior leadership across automation, engineering, procurement, and operations functions.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end delivery execution of warehouse implementation projects including fit-outs, retrofits, and new site layouts from kickoff through commissioning and operational handover
• Drive project plans, schedules, budgets, resourcing, and critical-path milestones with full accountability for on-time, on-budget delivery
• Manage external contractors, equipment vendors, and system integrators on-site, ensuring quality standards and delivery commitments are met
• Coordinate across solution design, automation, procurement, facilities, and operations teams to translate engineering designs into built assets
• Identify project dependencies and risks early, maintaining structured governance frameworks and resolving blockers proactively
• Lead commissioning, testing, and operational sign-off processes, ensuring clear handover protocols and ongoing maintenance ownership for local teams
• Provide structured project status, risk, and financial variance reporting to leadership and stakeholders

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience leading large-scale capital delivery projects in warehouse automation, material handling, or industrial manufacturing environments
• Engineering degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or related technical field
• Solid practical understanding of material handling systems, conveyors, racking, and goods-to-person automation technologies
• Proven track record running complex critical paths, project budgets, and multi-vendor environments
• Clear, confident presentation skills with ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and direct external vendors
• Highly proactive, ownership-driven approach to anticipating risks and managing operational details
• Flexibility for regular international travel across European site locations

Valued additional experience:

• Project Management Certification (PMP, PRINCE2, IPMA Level C+, or equivalent)
• Background in e-commerce, retail fulfillment, or high-throughput logistics automation
• Familiarity with next-generation logistics robotics and emerging warehouse technologies
