Senior Data Engineer – Real time analytics

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential SaaS organization seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join their Analytics & Data Platform team. This is a remote position based in France, working on real-time analytics systems that serve thousands of global customers.

Our talent team is looking for an experienced engineer who will design and build scalable streaming platforms, unlock the value of data through real-time insights, and help customers make informed decisions through sophisticated analytical solutions.

Responsibilities

• Lead requirements analysis, solution design, and architecture for scalable, low-latency streaming platforms that deliver near real-time data solutions
• Analyze and translate business requirements into optimized data models for big data environments
• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks through query optimization and architectural improvements
• Write clean, scalable code using Scala, Python, and SQL; test and deploy applications to production
• Solve complex data challenges in near real-time using optimal architectures, frameworks, and query techniques across structured and unstructured data sources
• Contribute to platform performance optimization and live site monitoring
• Mentor team members through actionable feedback and knowledge sharing
• Deliver high-quality, secure, and scalable solutions as part of a collaborative engineering organization

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as computer science or mathematics
• 3+ years of hands-on experience with near real-time analytics systems
• 5+ years of experience with modern programming languages such as Scala, Python, Go, or TypeScript
• Proven experience designing complex data processing pipelines
• Strong background in data modeling (star schema, dimensional modeling) in AWS Redshift or similar platforms
• Demonstrated expertise in query optimization techniques
• Experience shipping and maintaining production code
• Knowledge of Kafka is a plus
• Collaborative mindset with enthusiasm for sharing ideas and receiving feedback

Technical environment includes: AWS services (Kinesis, Kafka, S3, DMS, Glue, EMR, EKS, Redshift, Spectrum), Apache Pinot, Apache Flink, Airflow, and continuous deployment through GitLab.
