About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential industrial manufacturing organization in an exclusive search for a Senior Cost Engineer. Our client is an established mid-sized company serving international markets with complex, custom-engineered solutions. This is a key position where you will be responsible for economic evaluation of demanding products and projects, developing robust cost models, and creating sound decision-making foundations for sales, engineering, and management teams.

Responsibilities

• Independently prepare economic calculations and cost analyses for demanding customer and development projects
• Analyze technical documentation and derive economically viable manufacturing and implementation concepts
• Determine and evaluate production costs considering material, manufacturing, procurement, logistics, and overhead costs
• Develop transparent decision-making foundations for sales, project management, and senior leadership
• Conduct economic feasibility analyses and assess cost impacts of product and process changes
• Perform post-calculation analyses and evaluate plan-actual deviations to continuously improve calculation quality
• Identify cost optimization potential and develop economic alternatives in close coordination with technical departments
• Maintain and continuously improve calculation methods, cost models, and relevant calculation bases
• Provide technical support to adjacent business areas on cost-related questions and strategic investment and procurement decisions
• Work closely with sales, engineering, purchasing, production, supply chain, and controlling teams

What We're Looking For

• Successfully completed technical education with relevant further training (e.g., Techniker) or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Production Technology, or comparable field
• Several years of professional experience in cost engineering, technical calculation, or product costing within an industrial manufacturing environment
• Sound understanding of industrial manufacturing processes and complex cost and value-creation structures
• Confident handling of technical drawings, bills of materials, and technical documentation
• Experience with ERP systems and very strong MS Excel skills; experience with calculation or BI tools is advantageous
• Analytical mindset, strong numerical aptitude, and structured, independent working style
• Strong communication skills and ability to present complex economic relationships clearly across departments
• Fluent German and very good English language skills, both written and spoken
